Relief operations underway: PDMA

Authorities aware of difficulties of people residing in drought-affected areas, says PDMA director

QUETTA:
The relief operation in all drought-hit areas was underway and the provincial government has been making efforts for providing all basic necessities to the stricken people.

“We are aware of the difficulties of people residing in drought-affected areas including Bhag and Sibi. Under the directives of the provincial government, essential supplies have been dispatched to the affected people,” Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Mohammad Tariq said while talking to former minister of interim government Malik Khuram Shahzad the other day.

Speaking about the calamities, he said agriculture being the major source of income has been completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, Shahzad lauded the collective efforts of government and PDMA. He stressed the need for quality officers in resolving people’s issues.

Former minister expressed the hope that the government would soon resolve the long-lingering issue in the province. He added that instead of drought, the people in Sibi are facing extreme challenges in finding the drinking water, adding that the government should also resolve this issue.
