Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has grown to become the leader that everyone thought he was, but that came a little late, effectively as soon as former manager Jose Mourinho was fired.

Under the Portuguese manager, Pogba was linked with a lot of moves away from the Premier League club, with the most important bid coming from Spanish club Barcelona.

Transfer update: Mourinho moving back to Inter?

However, the midfielder decided to stay or as luck may have it, he was forced to stay at Old Trafford somehow, but the past week shows it wasn't a bad decision.

The midfielder scored twice and assisted on three occasions as the Red Devils bagged 5-1 and 3-1 victories as soon as Mourinho was sacked.

And courtesy his stunning performances United are not willing to let him go, come the January transfer window.

Red Devils chief executive Ed Woodward wants the Frenchman to be the team's focal point and has no intention of allowing him to leave as the club begins a new era after Mourinho, according to The Telegraph.
