PESHAWAR: Off-road enthusiasts from across the country are expected at the eighth snow cross jeep to be held on snow caped mountains of Naran from December 29.

The two-day gruelling test of driving skills on snow is a joint venture of the Tourism Department of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Mansehra district government, Frontier 4x4 Club, Pak Wheels and Mountain Dew.

“We have invited more than 50 owners of offroad vehicles to the race,” organiser Babar Khan told The Express Tribune. The jeeps will start coming on Thursday, he said.

“We have selected a three-kilometre terrain for the race, which includes snowy track, mountain tracks and also hill tracking for the drivers, who will show the skills on those tracks,” Khan added.

To a question he said: “we have already conducted races for the past seven seasons on the same track and this year we have added more to the race, which would provide special attraction to the tourists and families and also give a positive message to the world.”

Winners will get shields and trophies for various categories.

The thrilling event of the test of man and machine will provide an exciting entertainment and adventure tourism.

The organisers said the rally was meant to provide a platform to the young and budding enthusiasts in the country who want to have a terrain similar to those found in the European region. Mansehra DC Ziaul Haq will be present at the concluding ceremony.
