University for Hyderabad

Letter December 26, 2018
The status of the university now stands in a limbo as even two years after its foundation stone was laid

HYDERABAD: The Sindh Assembly had passed a law to rename Altaf Hussain University as Fatima Jinnah University in Hyderabad. A plot of 80 acres was purchased for the university which was to offer degree programmes in business, IT and others fields. The status of the university now stands in a limbo as even two years after its foundation stone was laid, the university campus is still under construction, at Hyderabad Motorway.

With the university campus still in development process, thousands of students from Hyderabad are facing difficulties as they have to travel to other cities for higher education. Because of this, a large number of students who are from Hyderabad city remain deprived of higher education.

The federal government as well as the Higher Education Commission must play their important roles and help establish Fatima Jinnah University, Hyderabad as early as possible.
