Punjab Headmasters Association Presiden Rasheed Ahmed Bhatti Secretary General Sardar Sikandar Hayat Sasrana, Sikandar Zulqarnain Gujar, Hasan Mehmood Shaheen, Chaudhry Mohammad Saleem, Rana Mohammad Aslam, Rana Mohammad Sajid, Mubashir Nazir, Ashfaq Naseem, Malik Nasir Abbas and other officials have condemned the non-payment of dues to the examiners. The payment to superintendents, resident inspector, mobile inspector, employees of grade four, marking staff of class five and six in Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) along with other 125,000 teachers have not been paid for the past nine months.
They said that the PEC exams were a burden on the national kitty. Instead of the provision of quality education, student’s mental skills were being eroded. Despite the lack of teachers in schools, 125,000 teachers were assigned the duty in this examination for two month due to which the students suffered a lot. They also demanded of the authorities to abolish this examination. High and higher secondary school should take the responsibility of examination for the students of primary and middle schools and their surrounded schools.
They maintained that in the PEC cluster heads were responsible for submission of student’s admission forms, data feeding, issuance of roll number slips, the arrangement of examination centres, distribution and receiving of papers and bear all the expenses of photocopy and others cost by themselves but they were not paid at all.
The Punjab Teacher Union (PTU) also announced full support to boycott decision of not taking part in the next PEC examination and demanded of the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Punjab education minister and School Education secretary to takin notice of the issue and release the payment of invigilators.
