ATC restrains FIA from arresting former senator

The court also ordered Ali to cooperate with the FIA in the investigation

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Friday granted time to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to complete its investigation in the money laundering of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation and restrained the officials from arresting former senator Ahmed Ali till January 17. The court also ordered Ali to cooperate with the FIA in the investigation process.

The former senator, FIA officials and other officers appeared before the court. A complete transaction record was submitted before the court on behalf of Ali and FIA officials once again requested for an extension to examine the documents.
According to FIA, Ali, who is affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan, was involved in money laundering of billions of rupees. Others accused in the case, including Altaf Hussain and former senator Babar Ghauri, have been declared absconders.
