Dr Ishrat wants more funds for Balochistan

PM’s adviser meets CM; agrees that provincial departments need capacity boost

QUETTA: Prime Minister’s Adviser for Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr Ishrat Husain has stressed the need for more development funds for the government of Balochistan.

This came during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Wednesday.

The two dignitaries agreed upon developing new human resources and boosting capacity of provincial departments.

The adviser informed the CM that under direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan planning was underway to make sure equality in jobs, capacity building of experts, and functioning of e-government.



Dr Husain said: “Indeed people of Balochistan have been facing many problems as compared to people of other provinces. Being a larger province of the country in terms of land mass with less population, Balochistan needs more funds for development”.

He lauded the performance of provincial government under the leadership of CM Kamal.

The chief minister said the provincial government has been working for transfer of power to the grass-root level.

“Half of the issues could be resolved automatically with strict monitoring in provincial departments while use of information technology would bring positive change in the performance of government officers,” he said.

CM Kamal shared provincial government’s reforms in education and health departments. The government has decided to establish middle schools at district levels while deputy commissioners were given authority to keep check in government hospitals.

He also said people from rural areas are migrating to Quetta that has created many problems, but the provincial government has been taking steps to change the congested structure of the provincial capital.
