Army conducted marathon concludes in Lower Dir

Pakistan Army's Nasrullah takes first, Ziaur Rehman stands second, while Muhammad Atif secures third position

KARACHI:
Sports activities return to terror-hit Lower Dir as Pakistan Army in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sports department and civil administration, organized a marathon race in Malakand division.

The marathon race began at Maidan and ended at FC ground. Seventy players from Pak Army including eight team members from Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Swat, Bonair and Malakand participated in the event.

Pakistan Army's Nasrullah took first, Ziaur Rehman stood second while Muhammad Atif from Lower Dir secured third position.


Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheerul Islam, Commandant Dir task force, Colonel Shehzad Ameer distributed trophies and awards. Scores of senior Pak army officials, civil officers, local dignitaries and spectators were also present on the occasion.

The team that finished first was awarded Rs50,000, whereas Rs25,000 were awarded to the team that finished second.

Commissioner Malakand division Zaheerul Islam said that the marathon race indicates that Lower Dir has turned into a peaceful area. Furthermore, increased economic activities in Mardan attracted 25,000,00 tourists this year, said the commissioner.
