Earlier, Minister for Human Right Shireen Mazari said it was time to move forward from issuing statements on Kashmir. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will take the Human Rights Commission report on the IOK to the Security Council, she said.
Earlier, recent martyrdom of Kashmiris in Palwama came under discussion at the Senate meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwala. Senator Raza Rabbani asked why the countries that make a hue and cry over violence over animals could not see atrocities in Gaza and Kashmir.
“Hoping something good from the United Nations (UN) would be foolishness because the UN is becoming the USA’s facilitator and the US wants to make India the hegemon of this region,” he said.
Senator Sherry Rehman said except for Pakistan no one else talks about Kashmir at the UN. Pakistan must push Muslim countries to raise voice against genocide in Kashmir.
Senator Mushahidullah Khan said the Indian army chief says if someone throws a stone, open fire on them. “What sort of democracy is India? Now things have even gone beyond the pallet guns,” he added.
Mazari said the UN has accepted the HRC report on human rights violations in Kashmir.
“In Kashmir’s support we don’t go beyond statements and resolutions; we have to convince the international community to play their role in ending violence in Kashmir.

“Musharraf government under the US pressure cut ties with [Kashmiri leader] Syed Ali Geelani. How much blood of Kashmiris will be spilled? It was time we moved beyond statements on Kashmir.”
She said East Timor people got right to self-determination because they were was against a Muslim country. The lives of Kashmiris are precious. We won’t let their blood go wasted, she added.
NAB’s ‘highhandedness’
Senator Pir Sabir Shah said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) by blaming him of corruption had damaged his reputation. The Senate deputy chairman said the house has written a letter to NAB chairman in the wake of the accountability body’s recent actions.
“NAB has been told that all members of parliament are to be respected and the Senate must be informed first if the graft-buster wants to summon some senator,” he said.
Senator Mian Ateeq said brick kilns are being shut down in the name of environment. “Smog comes from across the border. The new government has to be strict but it’s being excessively harsh now.”
Mushahidullah Khan contested the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) claim that it planted one-billion trees in Khyber-Pakhtunkwa (K-P). “If they had planted one-billion trees then the temperatures would not have risen to such levels.”
Minister of State for Environmental Change Zartaj Gul said due to billion tree project the corrosion of land in K-P as lessened. “When we were planting trees in the K-P, Mushahidullah’s government was supporting timber mafia in Rajanpur. You people are in Punjab since 35 years. Now most of the pollution is in the big cities,” she said.
