Youth unemployment

Letter December 18, 2018
The ratio of the unemployed youth in all provinces is increasing at an alarming rate

HYDERABAD: Youth unemployment has been one of Pakistan’s serious social problems. While the PTI government led by PM Imran Khan is working towards the betterment of the country, it doesn’t look keen on providing our bulging youth with significant job opportunities. It has been estimated that only 39 per cent of the country’s youth is employed while 61 per cent is deprived of jobs. The ratio of the unemployed youth in all provinces is increasing at an alarming rate. The growing population, corruption, lack of job opportunities and nepotism in the public and private sectors are the major causes of youth unemployment. Because of this, a large number of well-educated and deserving youth is jobless, and due to this, the youth of our country is depressed and frustrated.

It is time for the PTI-led government to fulfil its promise by providing jobs to our jobless youth on merit so that youth unemployment can be reduced.
