Rs190.9m given to martyrs’ families in 2018

Additional Rs3m spent on injured police officers' treatments

KARACHI: The Sindh Police Welfare Department distributed Rs190.9 million among the families of 42 martyrs in 2018 while more than Rs3 million were spent on the treatment of injured personnel.

The Sindh Police Welfare Department has issued a progress report for 2018 as the year comes to an end. According to this report, in 2018 from January 1 to December 15 a total of Rs190.9 million has been distributed and Rs3m have been used for the treatment of 22 injured police officers. In addition to this, 31 police officers who were severely injured during police encounters have received their medical treatment from Aga Khan University Hospital, for which rupees Rs18.2 million have been paid to the hospital. More than Rs20b have been distributed among the families of 640 deceased police officers as a donation.

According to sources, Sindh Inspector-General Kaleem Imam has given special instructions to Sindh Welfare additional inspector-general for the welfare and wellbeing of martyrs' families and of other police officers.

The welfare trust has been told that families of martyrs and injured police officers should not face any inconvenience. Their files should go through scrutiny under the legal procedures and donation money should be granted as soon as possible, directed Imam.
