ATC extends Mansha Bomb, son’s remand in land grabbing case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court has extended the remand of suspected land mafia operative Mansha ‘Bomb’ and his son.

Both the accused were produced before ATC Judge Aijaz Hasan Awan.

An investigation officer told the court there were many cases of land occupation and extortion in different police stations against the two while the government’s lawyer said a report and charge sheets were being finalised against them in three cases.

He said more investigation was needed so the physical remand should be extended. After hearing the arguments, the judicial remand of Mansha and his son Asim was extended till December 17 and physical remand till December 18.

Earlier this month, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had ordered the authorities to hand over possession of illegally occupied property reclaimed from Malik Mansha Khokhar alias ‘Mansha Bomb’ to their rightful owners within a week.

The order came during the hearing at the top court’s Lahore registry by a two-judge bench of a petition of an overseas Pakistani, Mahmood Ashraf, against Mansha who, according to the petitioner, had deprived him of his property.

Last month the Punjab police revealed in a report submitted to the Supreme Court that the accused was involved in 66 cases including some related to the Anti-Terrorism Act.
