Remembering APS tragedy

Many enemy strikes occur around educational institutions which are too close for live warfare

TURBOT: Four years have passed since the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar became the target of one of the deadliest terrorist assaults in the history of Pakistan. Today is a day to pay homage to students and teachers who lost their lives, as well as to educators who have been putting up a brave front every day since then to educate our children.

Unfortunately, in Pakistan, terrorist attacks on educational institutions have taken place at an alarming rate. Many enemy strikes occur around educational institutions which are too close for live warfare.

Schools are where educators are made, as well as future doctors, engineers, police officers and other professionals. The cure for terrorism is not that every common man picks up a gun and fight; rather, it is education that is the cure for this and all such problems the country is faced with today. As long as our educational institutions remain weak, we will run the risk of facing such terrorist attacks.
