QUETTA: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) leader Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani has termed lack of education as the main cause of the province’s backwardness, calling for opening new educational institutes in Mastung, Kalat and Sariyab to help address the issue.

During a visit to the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Saturday, the BNP-M leader stressed that education would lead towards development, peace and prosperity.

“The geopolitical importance of Balochistan has been increasing but without education we wouldn’t be able to obtain major benefits from international investment,” said Raisani.

Raisani, who is also Chairman of the Balochistan Peace Forum, vowed to discuss the matter of establishing schools in Mastung, Kalat and Sariyab with the Balochistan governor and government officials.

The BNP-M leader questioned the government’s claim of making the country a welfare state, accusing the rulers of deceiving the nation through false promises.

“We should trust our ability to compete with any other province or country, but without education we can’t fulfil our dreams,” he added.

Raisani visited various departments of the university and distributed certificates and laptops among distinguished students.
