QUETTA: The Election Commissioner Balochistan Nayaz Baloch has said that all arrangements for by-polls in the provincial capital constituency PB-26 have been completed.

In a statement on Friday, the commission said all preparations have been made for by-polls in 49 polling stations across the constituency.

“28 polling stations for male, 19 for female voters would be established on the polling day while two joint polling booths for men and women would also be set up inside the constituency,” said Baloch.
The Election Commission of Pakistan had announced the provincial assembly seat vacant after declaring MPA Ahmed Ali Kohzad’s election null and void.

The court ordered provincial Home Department and Nadra to verify Kohzad’s nationality.

NA-265

An appellate tribunal of Balochistan High Court (BHC) has ordered National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to verify votes cast in NA-265 Quetta city in the last general elections.

The tribunal headed by Justice Abdullah Baloch on Thursday announced the judgement reserved on a petition filed by Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) leader Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani.

The BNP-M leader had filed a petition in the tribunal regarding election mismanagement in provincial capital’s NA constituency. Raisani had requested the court to verify voter thumbprints from Nadra.

Over his plea the court has ordered the authority to re-verify voters in NA-256.

The other day, the tribunal rejected the Balochistan chief minister’s petition alleging that Muhammad Aslam Bhootani had won the NA-272 Gwadar-Lasbela seat in the general elections through rigging.

Responding to the verdict, Bhotani called the judgement a victory of Justice.

The tribunal has also rejected the application filed against provincial Minister Zahoor Buledi on PB-45 Kech.
