Thatta SSP submitted a report that stated the police were facing difficulties against the sellers of gutka, mainpuri and mawa due to the absence of a law. The court summoned the law secretary, advocate-general and others for legislation to take action against production and sale of these products.
The court appreciated Thatta SSP for accepting the shortcoming and remarked that improvement was only possible if flaws were accepted.
According to the report, 18 gutka manufacturing factories have been sealed and 505 people have been arrested in a 45-day long operation. The court adjourned the hearing till January 17.
