There is a need to develop a habit of consuming healthy food among students by providing them healthy food spots

LAHORE: To make a strong nation, it is essential to raise healthy minds with healthy bodies. The youth is considered as the backbone of any nation; and to gain an education, they spend most of their time at academic institutions.

However, unfortunately, educational institutions in Pakistan lack the provision of quality and healthy food for their students. The eateries in these institutions mostly have junk and substandard food. This trend is leading towards serious health issues like obesity and gastrointestinal issues.

There is a need to develop a habit of consuming healthy food among students by providing them exemplary healthy food spots. Moreover, the food regulatory bodies must have a strong check on the food quality the educational institutions are providing to students. They need to devise strict policies to cut down supply of junk and unhealthy food to eateries of all educational institutions. There is also a need to pay regular visits to all such institutions to maintain the set standards for a healthy food supply. Immediate steps should be taken to ensure the supply of healthy food for the future of our children.
