An industrial worker passed away when a hot iron rod accidentally pierced his chest at a steel manufacturing unit in Hattar Industrial Estate (HIC) on Friday. According to eyewitnesses, Hayat Shah, 27, from Dobair in Kohistan, was busy in routine work at Nomi Steel Mills when a hot iron rod hit his chest, killing him on the spot. The body was later taken to District Headquarter Hospital Haripur for autopsy. There are more than 140 industrial units operating in HIC with over 12,000 workers involved in the production process. However, no safety measures for these workers have been taken by factory owners, due to which the lives of these workers are at constant risk.
