NAB summons Zardari, Bilawal on Dec 13

Party leadership deems notices as nothing but an instrument of 'political vendetta'

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday summoned Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) supremos Asif Zadari and Bilawal Bhutto on December 13.

According to NAB spokesperson, Zardari and Bilawal have been called at NAB office in Rawalpindi on the aforementioned date.

Sources say that Bilawal has been called in the capacity of shareholder of a private firm.

PPP leader Farhatullah Babar confirmed that the PPP chairman had received the country's top anti-graft body's notice.

While the party's spokesperson Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar confirmed Bilawal had received the notice with a team of lawyers set to appear before NAB Rawalpindi on December 13 on his behalf.

Khokhar described the notice as "ludicrous" as Bilawal was being asked about issues which occurred when he was only a one-year-old.

He also termed these notices as "political victimisation."

PPP leader Saeed Ghani hit out at NAB by saying that they could not muster the courage to summon Prime Minister Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan in ill-gotten assets case.

Ghani said that the anti-graft body is being used as a tool to victimise opposition parties by the sitting government.

The PPP leader claimed that a fake press release was given out on November 8, to keep the meeting between NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal and Premier Imran a day earlier under wraps.

He added that Iqbal had become a puppet of the country's premier.

According to NAB spokesperson Nawazish Ali Asim, the pair have been called at NAB office in Rawalpindi on the aforementioned date
