RAWALPINDI: A special customs court has accepted for hearing an appeal filed by supermodel Ayyan Ali against the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against her. Judge Arshad Bhatta has admitted the fashion model’s plea to cancel the warrants and has issued directives to the customs prosecutor to submit replies on the plea by December 21. Ali’s lawyer Aftab Bajwa contended in the application that the fashion model is willing to appear before the court, hence the arrest warrants should be withdrawn. Moreover, the lawyer sought a day’s exemption from court hearings on medical grounds. The request was also granted by the court. Customs Prosecutor Amin Feroze argued that Ali has not appeared before the court in any of the hearings for the past year-and-a-half, hence legal action should be taken against her. Bajwa later told Daily Express that Ali will return to the country at the start of the new year for regular court hearings.
