PESHAWAR: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is taking concrete steps for ensuring mass participation in the electoral process, ECP Member Justice (retd) Irshad Qaisar said at function held at Governor House in connection with National Voters’ Day. There is difference of 2.6 million between male and female voters in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. ECP is trying to end this disparity. She further added that verification process of electoral process was accomplished before 2018 General Elections. Special campaign was launched for registration of female voters with the cooperation of National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) and civil society which still continues. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor said celebrating voters day would motivate people to be part of the electoral process. He lauded the ECP for conducting transparent elections and added that we all must cooperate with ECP in this regard. Earlier, K-P Election Commissioner Pir Maqbool Ahmad said December 7 was a historic day on which first ever general elections were held in the country in 1970, which paved the way for giving the first ever unanimous constitution.
