Plight of Indian Muslims justifies partition: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said the plight of the Muslims in present-day India proved that the demand for a separate homeland by the Muslims of subcontinent was justified.

“The way Muslims are treated today in India has made people realise now why Pakistan was born,” the prime minister said while addressing students belonging to Balochistan in Islamabad.

PM Imran said the federal government had been working with the Balochistan government to improve the living standard of the people of the province. He announced that certain public welfare programmes would be unveiled in the coming days.

He told the students from Balochistan that they have got a good chief minister. The government would do all to improve the lot of poor across the country, including Balochistan, he added.



The prime minister said that women empowerment was a priority of the government, and a law would be introduced to ensure inheritance rights to the women. “The principles of the state of Medina such as justice, rule of law, and women rights will be ensured to make Pakistan a truly Islamic welfare state.”

He also said Pakistan would no longer fight anyone else’s war, nor the country would be coerced by any foreign power. “Pakistan wants peace,” he said, adding that no compromise would be made on national integrity.

The prime minister referred to the United States’ repeated “do more” mantra regarding peace in Afghanistan in the past.
He regretted that Pakistani leaders in the past continued to give an impression to the people that if they did not submit to the superpower’s desire of fighting other’s war the country would face great difficulties.

Earlier this month, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal had called on Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in Lahore.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that a large number of Baloch students have been studying in Punjab. And, a special quota has been set up in Punjab’s educational institutions for the students of Balochistan. They are also being provided with scholarships for higher education.

CM Buzdar had said that a special ceremony will be held in honour of students who were studying in Punjab’s educational institutions.
