ISLAMABAD: The top electoral body on Wednesday gave a petitioner 20 days to submit evidence to back up his allegations of child abuse by a Senator.

A three-member commission of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), led by the body’s Sindh member Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, on Wednesday took up an application filed against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mussadiq Malik which alleged that the lawmaker had sexually assaulted a child.

Petitioner Zinnia Satti contended that the evidence required will have to be summoned from the United States including documentary records and videos. However, she claimed that the US police was not cooperating and had allegedly ‘stolen’ some of the evidence.

At this, ECP Punjab member Altaf Ibrahim stated that the matter cannot proceed further unless evidence is presented.
