ISLAMABAD: The federal health minister on Tuesday admitted that there were gaps in the health system and suggested that more time would be required for the PTI-led government to extend its much-touted health insurance scheme to all corners of the country.

This was stated by Federal Health Minister Aamer Mehmood Kiani on Tuesday while addressing the ninth Public Health Conference at the Health Service Academy.

Kiani said that improving the healthcare delivery system was key to improved quality of life.

"Although Pakistan has made improvements in health, there is still a need to make more efforts to achieve our health-related targets by 2030," he said while laying out an ambitious but tempered plan. Discussing the challenges faced by the health sector in the country, the minister admitted that there were a number of gaps in the system.
