ISLAMABAD: The government is according top priority to higher education to achieving its targets of socio-economic development

This was stated by the Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while addressing the 52nd Convocation of the College of Physicians and Surgeon Pakistan (CPSP).

"My mission in life is to promote higher education and I have established as many as 100 schools and colleges in my constituency to build the future of the nation," he claimed.

Reflecting on his own academic pursuits, he said, “I used to sell books during my childhood at Lal Haveli and I am the only child who completed graduation and obtained a master’s degree while in jail. I have now become a minister for the eighth time after joining politics."

Describing medicine as one of the noblest of all professions, he considered it an honour for him to be present among the saviours of life.

He stressed that the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) used to serve the people and heal their wounds, he said.

Rashid exhorted the doctors to serve humanity with utmost dedication.
