According to sources, the committee comprising members of the National Assembly will take appropriate action against lawmakers resorting to ‘unparliamentary’ language.
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad will formulate the rules and regulations for the parliamentary ethics committee. The committee will also define its standard operating procedures (SOP).

The committee will be responsible to ensure that no lawmaker resorts to personal attacks against any other parliamentarian and the debates stick to the issues being discussed.
It will proceed in case of violation of parliamentary norms by lawmakers and also recommend steps to the speaker.
It was agreed in November that the committee would be presided over by Speaker Asad Qaiser and the parliamentary leaders of all parties would be its members.
It was also decided that the treasury and the opposition benches would ensure that no lawmaker would adopt unparliamentary behayiour during the sessions.
