The cash strapped government is unable to finance the construction and completion of offices and homes of CTD personnel as a result of which ongoing work for past three years has been stopped once again.
The office work is seriously being affected although the department has during the current year registered 36 cases, of which the decisions of 15 have been made. Complete challans of 33 have been presented
Due to non availability of station and offices the officers of the most important department of law enforcement are suffering.
The incomplete station has now been made the dumping ground of senior police officers.
Capital police undergoes massive reshuffle
Appointed to this station four senior police inspectors Kashif Riaz, Muhammad Khan and others have been issued the notice of change and transfer from CTD to district Rawalpindi but implementation on it has been halted. CTD head SP Jameel Zafar was changed almost three months back . However, a senior officer has not yet replaced him.
Presently, DSP Majeed is working as the acting SP CTD station is under construction at Riwayat PC Line since three years now but due to lack of funds the incomplete building is turning into ruins.
According to Punjab Police’s website, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was named as Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on 21-07-2010.
To meet the growing challenges of terrorism, CTD has been restructured. Since early 2015, new roles have been assigned to it in addition to its primary intelligence function. CTD now registers and investigates all terrorism related cases at the newly established CTD Police Stations. Creation of Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) within CTD is another landmark initiative.
