ISLAMABAD:
Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday said that the policies of his party should be implemented if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was serious in resolving issues facing the country.

Addressing a press conference along with other Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders in Islamabad, Abbasi said that the prime minister didn’t say a single word about tax evaders, while the system has been weakened due to non-payment of taxes.

Criticising the government, Abbasi said that they regret that Prime Minister Imran Khan couldn’t even hire a peon in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), adding that he should decide if the anti-graft watchdog was under his control or not.

“Value of the rupee has depreciated to the lowest level in history,” the former premier said, adding that reforms introduced by former minister Miftah Ismail were the only way to stop money laundering and theft.

Taking a jibe at PM Imran’s speech, Abbasi asked the government to reveal to the country where $11 billion were and bring the money back to Pakistan.

The PML-N leader said that the government had not revealed any plan on how it would construct five million houses.

Speaking on the occasion, former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan couldn’t even get to know which departments come under the federation and which come under the provincial government.

PML-N leader Iqbal said that the prime minister had said that he would end corruption within 90 days after coming to power. “Despite a passage of 100 days, the premier hasn’t learned the rules of business,” he added.

Earlier, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said the government has lied to the people and made a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The spokesperson condemned the historic increase in the value of the dollar against the rupee, demanding to inform the masses that under what conditions was the deal made with the IMF.

“An increase of Rs10 in the value of the dollar is proof the government accepted the terms and conditions of the IMF,” said Aurangzeb.

She blamed the finance minister for lying to the masses during the 100-day event held on Thursday.

She predicted worst inflation in days to come due to the rise in the value of the dollar.

Aurangzeb said the nation should not be disappointed and should search on ‘Google’ the next 100-day plan of PTI.

Former Sindh governor Mohammad Zubair also criticised the performance of the PTI government, saying it failed to give satisfactory results and has now announced to give another plan.

The PML-N leader Zubair added that PM Imran failed to present any achievement of the government.

On the other hand, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly criticised the government, terming the first 100 days of the PTI government U-turn.

The spokesperson for the PPP chairman said that PM Imran’s address on the occasion of completion of 100 days in power was not an effective speech as he had nothing to inform the nation.

The spokesperson further said that the extraordinary increase in the prices of electricity, gas and gasoline has worried people.

“Political intervention in police and bureaucracy has exposed the claimants of change,” he added.
