Poet Umar Daraz goes for laparoscopy at KTH

He has been advised diagnostic laparoscopy

PESHAWAR: Famous K-P poet Umar Daraz Marwat went under diagnostic laparoscopy procedure at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) on Thursday.

The news of Daraz being in hospital was doing rounds on social media and literary circles, however people were worried about not knowing what he was suffering from, and whether he was being taken care of. The health department on Thursday allayed these apprehensuions and stated that Daraz has been provided ample care throughout his stay in the hospital.

Regarding disclosure of his ailment, the department said such things are shared with close relatives only. “KTH maintains high degree of profound confidentiality regarding patient’s clinical information as it is routine standard. But we reaffirm that he has been under through professional care. The details of his disease and prognosis are well explained to the patient and his relatives.”

As for the expenses of the stay in public healthcare facility, the statement said that Umar Daraz is admitted in Surgical Ward A, where all the medications, lab tests and biopsy are provided by the hospital free of cost.

Daraz was brought to Medical Ward A and later shifted to Surgical Ward A on Monday, November 26, as he was advised diagnostic laparoscopy.
