Rishi Kapoor's ancestral home in Peshawar to be turned into museum

Bollywood star Rishi Kapoor's ancestral home in Qissa Khwani Bazar, Peshawar is all set to become a museum soon. The Government of Pakistan made this decision following Rishi's instructions, reported The Indian Express.

“There was a call from Rishi Kapoor. He requested that his family’s home in Peshawar should be made into a museum or some sort of institution. We have accepted his request,” stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Interior Minister Shehryar Khan Afridi shared that the Nagina actor called him to preserve his family's house in Peshawar. “He called me and spoke to me about making his ancestral home into a museum. Now the Federal and Provincial governments are working on  transforming the house into a museum soon,” Afridi said.

The Kapoor Haveli in Qissa Khwani Bazar was built by iconic star Prithviraj Kapoor's father Basheswarnath Kapoor. Prithviraj's son Raj Kapoor was born in Peshawar on December 14, 1924. The actor-director is best known for a string of hit films he made in the 1950s and 1960s. The Kapoor family left Peshawar after the Partition in 1947.

Rishi previously shared that he wishes to visit Pakistan before he dies. “I am 65 years old and I want to see Pakistan before I die. I want my children to see their roots. Bas karva dijiye (Please make it happen),” the Mulk star had tweeted.
