Protest lodged with Dhaka after burglary at high commission

Pakistan lodged a protest with Bangladesh after a burglary incident at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.

Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said that "unknown burglars broke into the consular section of the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka and stole computers".

He added the matter was immediately reported to Bangladesh’s police and a First Information Report (FIR) was also lodged. Bangladesh's Foreign Office was also informed of the incident and additional security has been requested.

"Bangladeshi authorities have been requested to carry out a thorough investigation of the incident and share a detailed report with us and bring the culprits to justice."

The spokesperson stated that the burglary in the mission, located in a highly secure diplomatic area, is a matter of 'grave' concern.

Dr Faisal added that it is the responsibility of the Bangladeshi government to provide full security to the Pakistan High Commission premises.
