KARACHI: The brutal killing of Sarfaraz Shah by Rangers personnel outside a park in Karachi on June 8, shows the true extent of the degeneration of this society. It also shows that for the common man to assume that security forces will somehow protect him or her, is presumptuous at best. For in reality, in Pakistan, the thought is ludicrous. Our security forces, once given guns in their hands, as the uncensored video of the killing shows, clearly go crazy, their sadistic tendencies set in and they enjoy watching people suffer.

Why else was the poor man allowed to bleed to death? The message is clear, tomorrow when you set out of your house, you may not return. If you anger a security official, you may just die a horrible death. If you feel safe, remember, it’s just an illusion.
