LAHORE:
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Javed Latif has said the party will issue a white paper to critically review the 100-day performance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal and provincial governments.

Speaking to The Express Tribune on Saturday, he said the party would release the white papers after the government revealed its progress.

He shared that the party had already prepared a preliminary draft of the white paper based on the ‘visible performance’ of the federal government. He said the PML-N’s Punjab leadership under Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz was preparing a white paper draft to review the provincial government’s performance.

He added that the local leadership of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) under Ameer Muqam was preparing a white paper as well.

The PML-N lawmaker said that all the data would be combined in a white paper that would be issued by the party from Islamabad.

To a question on Public Accounts Committee (PAC), he said the PML-N would not take any step without taking Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) into confidence.

He added that PML-N and PPP would decide on a joint strategy over the issue.

Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb refused to verify the date of the issuance of the white paper, saying it would be issued within days after the PTI unveils its 100-day performance.

The PML-N spokesperson said the white paper was only being issued by the PML-N and was not a coordinated effort of all the opposition parties. She added that PTI’s 100-day performance was nothing but ‘a set of lies’ which PML-N would present before the people.

PML-N had already in lieu with other opposition parties had requested for a National Assembly session to be requisitioned for discussing 100 days performance of the government and other issues.

The request has been signed by 99 members of the National Assembly and the PML-N was expecting the session to be held in the first week of December. This would be the third session that would be requisitioned on the request of the PML-N since the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif.

Earlier in the month, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan would present the 100-day progress report of his government before the nation on November 29.

He maintained that no other government would even come any closer to what the PTI government had achieved in its first 100 days.

Initially Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) had unveiled a 100-day plan before the two months before general elections, on May 21 , wherein it pledged to transform governance standards, strengthen the federation, revitalise the economy, revolutionise social services, ensure national security and overhaul the agricultural sector among other goals.  Prime Minister Imran Khan had pledged to build a ‘Naya Pakistan’ when his party comes to power.
