Seat fell vacant after MPA Kohzad’s victory was annulled for having Afghan nationality

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued the schedule for by-election on PB-26 Quetta seat.

According to the notification, the by-polls would be held on December 31. There is a complete ban/ restriction on the appointments and transfers of government employees due to the by-elections.

The PB-26 seat fell vacant after the annulment of Hazara Democratic Party’s Ahmed Ali Khozad’s election victory for having Afghan nationality.

ECP annuls MPA Kohzad’s win, orders re-election in PB-26

Candidates would be able to submit their nomination papers from November 26-28, while the list would be issued on November 29.

The papers would be scrutinised till December 3, after which any objection could be challenged in the appellate tribunal till December 6. A revised list would be issued on December 9, while the electoral symbols would be allotted on December 11.

A ban has also been imposed on new developmental schemes in PB-26.

Apart from this, the ECP also issued a code of conduct in the PB-26 constituency. Members of the national and provincial assemblies would not be able to visit the constituency under the code of conduct. Prime minister, chief minister and ministers’ visit to the relevant constituency would be banned.
