Police confirm security plan for Eid Miladun Nabi

At least 229 processions and 466 Milads will be organised in the city

Lahore Police have chalked out a plan to provide security for Eid Miladun Nabi which is being observed on Wednesday (tomorrow), said Deputy Inspector General of Police Lahore Operations (DIG) Waqas Nazir.

According to the police spokesman, a total of 229 processions and 466 Milads would be arranged across the division and 5,394 policemen would perform security duty. On the procession routes, CCTV cameras walkthrough gates and metal detectors would be used to check participants.

Lahore Police have guarded at least 170 Mehfil-e-Milad and 20 processions since the month of Rabiul Awal started, he said. People would be allowed to enter the processions after proper checking, he said. He ordered all the divisional SPs to make personal visits and review the arrangements in their respective areas. He also asked SP Dolphin Squad Bilal Zafar to make the patrolling of Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) most effective.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) also finalised the arrangements for the provision of effective emergency cover. Around 11,000 rescuers will perform their duties in three shifts across the province. Deputy Director Operations Ayaz Aslam told the DG Rescue Punjab that 797 ambulances, 219 fire vehicles, 69 rescue vehicles, 17 specialised vehicles, and 800 motorbike ambulances shall remain on high alert on Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW).

DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed the emergency arrangements in a meeting held on Monday at Emergency Services Headquarters. He directed all the District Emergency Officers (DEOs) to ensure a comprehensive emergency medical cover to the gatherings, processions and rallies. In this regard, the leaves of the rescuers have also been restricted and they have been assigned special emergency duties. As per contingency plans, the emergency cover shall be provided to main processions with mobile rescue posts, along with fully equipped emergency vehicles, including rescue ambulances, fire tenders, and specialised vehicles. Furthermore, coordinated liaison has also been developed with key focal persons of processions and gatherings. All DEOs have finalised mapping of all events and routes processions.

According to the emergency plan, rescue personnel shall also remain in close coordination with other related agencies and services in control rooms established in the districts and provincial monitoring cells. Trained doctors shall supervise the arrangements on the day. The provincial monitoring cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) shall also remain operational round-the-clock to monitor all districts and to provide directions, assistance and logistics support in case of an emergency.

 

All-out security and traffic arrangements for the 559th Birthday of Baba Guru Nanak on November 23 Sahib have been completed at Nankana. On the request of DPO Nankana Ismail Kharrak, IGP Punjab has sent 1,032 police officers, officials as well as six drone cameras for aerial surveillance. The force included two SPs, five DSPs, 10 inspectors, 805 Punjab constabulary officials, 160 Elite Force officials, 40 lady police officials and 10 mounted police officials. IGP has directed DPO Nankana to take all necessary security measures for the Sikh devotees.

IGP directed DPO Nankana that all arrangements for smooth traffic flow must be ensured so that common citizens could manage their daily affairs. The DPO Nankana told to the IGP that the road map regarding traffic plan and alternative routes has been already issued for public and in this regard, an awareness campaign has been started.
