SHCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Minhaj A Qidwai said that the commission had set up the directorate to launch a comprehensive crackdown on quacks across the province.

He said the first meeting of stakeholders, including academia, local government officials, law enforcement agencies, service delivery providers and others, will be held next week to chalk out a comprehensive strategy against quacks.
He said that the commission had also established three separate cells including the strategic, research and development cell, inspection and enforcement cell and advocacy, communication and social mobilisation cell at the Anti-Quackery Directorate.
Dr Qidwai said the Sindh health director-general had initially provided a list of 5,000 quacks operating across the province and a crackdown will be started soon in coordination with all stakeholders. He said further action against quacks would be initiated after their identification.
Dialogue held on population, reproductive health
According to Dr Qidwai, the commission plans to conduct a comprehensive census to ascertain the actual number of fraudulent doctors working in Karachi as well as other parts of the province.
