ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet will review a four point agenda, including the approval of additional wheat in the government sector, reports on sugar cane prices and production cost of sugar.

Presided over by Minister of Finance Asad Umar, the meeting would begin Tuesday morning.  The meeting would also review the subsidy on sugarcane and consider its new price.

The committee would also review the summary of giving exception to government grant of poverty alleviation fund from government re-landing policy.

It will also approve gratuity, provident fund and other dues to heirs of the employees of the Pakistan Steel Mills who had passed away.

Earlier in November, the ECC meeting chaired by the finance minister considered the proposals of Ministry of National Food Security & Research regarding the support /procurement price of wheat for the crop 2018-19 and decided to maintain the wheat support price at the current level of Rs1300/- per 40 KG.

It was noted that the wheat prices in the international market were considerably lower and the government of Pakistan was incurring a huge expenditure in the wheat procurement process, to protect the interests of the farmers.
