CM Balochistan urges a revamp of governance structure

Kamal calls upon youth to unlock the power of technology

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said the government cannot work properly unless the structure of governance is improved.

Addressing students during a laptop distribution ceremony at CM Secretariat on Sunday, the CM said “In those societies where governance fails, the system of government does not function properly”.

He said Balochistan government is always being criticised for its lack of capacity, bad governance, and system.

Kamal regretted that no major welfare projects were initiated for the province in the past, however, now the government was putting up efforts for the provision of basic facilities to the people.



“Balochistan Awami Party (BAP)-led government feels the change in the system is inevitable through better governance. In this regard the role of the masses, particularly of youth is quite significant,” he stressed.

Speaking on the looming threats, the chief minister said through better strategy the government would foil every plot against the country.

“We are proud of our language, nationality, and culture,” he said, adding that those elements who wanted to create rifts among people and mislead youth should be discouraged.

Today, Kamal said, students had great opportunity, having all facilities which were never imaged in the past. Students should exploit such facilities and through better use of technology play their role in the construction of Balochistan and Pakistan, he added.

The chief minister also said the future of students was in their own hands, they should not consider themselves inferior but utilise their potential in education and work hard to achieve their goals.

“We want to deliver to the people of Balochistan all those things and facilities in coming years which they deserve,” he added.



 

He criticised previous governments for “wrong use of funds” and said incomplete development projects were causing political and financial damage to the province. If the Polytechnic Institute in Lasbela was completed seven years ago then more than 3,000 students would have been equipped with technical skills, he claimed.

Moreover, he said Quetta Greater Water scheme was initiated 15 years ago upon which billions rupees were “wasted”. Kamal jibed if the only purpose of that project was providing water then its machinery would not have been closed.

Provincial Ministers Sardar Abdul Rehman Kehtran, Malik Naheem Bazai, MPAs Bushra Rind, Mubeen Khilji were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the chief minister and provincial ministers distributed laptops amongst students.
