Mehsud had disappeared on November 15 forcing his second wife to lodge an FIR that her husband did not return home from his office in Sector G-6 of the federal capital.
Authorities quickly sprung into action with a police team sent to Dera Ismail Khan to find bring him back after Mehsud issued a video statement from there on social media.

In the statement, he said that he is fine and in DI Khan and could not be reached as his mobile phones were switched off.

Authorities brought him back to Islamabad, where he was produced before a magistrate court.
After penning an apology letter he was soon released.

In the statement, he said that he left after an argument with his wife over their daughter’s marriage not being arranged as per his wishes.
He had taken a four-day leave from his CDA office, citing a recreational trip to Gilgit.
