Talking of youth bulge ad nauseum makes no sense
KARACHI: Lately there has been much talk about the youth bulge in Pakistan as if mere large numbers of young population guarantee progress and prosperity. What is so great about a youth bulge in a country where a large number of people still prefer to have a large number of children. In Pakistan one couple have a dozen of children and such couples are great many. One is not off the mark if one says Pakistan’s most important industry is the baby-making industry. So the youth bulge is expanding at a fast pace. But a youth bulge that is not only illiterate but unlettered too will only add to the problems instead of solving any one of them. Talking of youth bulge ad nauseum makes no sense. But let us bear with it as we are bearing with many other useless talks.
