Pakistan Post seeking to establish logistics company

As it plans to enter lucrative business of transporting heavy goods

MULTAN: Pakistan Post is seeking proposals to establish a logistics company before it steps into the lucrative business of transporting heavy goods. All these are efforts to overcome the country’s financial deficit. This was stated by Multan Circle Postmaster General Akram Nawaz in Multan on Friday. He said a proposal was already circulating to launch the initiative on public-private partnership pattern. Their effort to seek expressions of interest from international-level logistic companies was receiving a positive response. He added to make it more beneficial, Pakistan Post has also invited proposals from its regional offices. He said the old system, involving post boxes or letter boxes, was being phased out all over the world and tendencies of the individuals and companies, worldwide, towards email and other electronic means of communications were gaining ground rapidly. Nawaz maintained such reasons were impacting Pakistan Post financially. He disclosed that Pakistan Post’s annual income was Rs15billion against Rs20 billion in expenses.
