Two Pakistani authors nominated for DSC Prize for South Asian Literature

Kamila Shamsie, Mohsin Hamid nominated alongside four Indian authors

Two Pakistani authors, Kamila Shamsie and Mohsin Hamid have been shortlisted for DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. Shamsie's seventh novel Home Fire and Hamid's Exit West have been selected to compete against four other authors for the prize.

The winner will be awarded $25,000.



Other than two Pakistani authors, four of the six titles on the shortlist are by Indian authors.

Jayant Kaikini's No Presents Please, Manu Joseph's Miss Laila Armed And Dangerous, Neel Mukherjee's A State Of Freedom, and Sujit Saraf's Harilal & Sons.

Previously, the British-Pakistani authors were longlisted for the prestigious Man Booker prize.

Parvez | 6 years ago | Reply If one is into reading Pakistani authors the perception seems to be that there are only two worth reading Kamila and Mohsin ..... and this is utterly false. The way I see it is these two are smarter than the others....they have the correct contacts, agents, publicists etc. Handing out these Brownie points in this manner is, lets simply say ... suspect.
