Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid has said Prime Minister Imran Khan will lay the foundation stone of Gwadar Railway Station during his next visit to the port city.
Talking to media persons at the Quetta Railway Station on Wednesday, the minister said that with the help of Chinese investment, Gwadar would become the eighth divisional headquarter of Pakistan Railways.
“Balochistan government has allocated land for Gwadar Railway Station, but we have asked the chief minister to allocate another 280 acers of land in the port city,” he said, adding that in view of Gwadar’s international importance, the ministry wanted to build a huge railway station.
PML-N blamed for Railways failures
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Divisional Superintendent Wasif Ali Mughal and other railways officials were also present during the press conference.
The railways minister criticised the previous government and the former railways minister for “mega corruption” in the railways. He said investigation was underway over the purchase of 55 locomotives.
“Each locomotive cost Rs400 million to our exchequer while the Indian Railways purchased the same model of machine for Rs200 million,” he said, pledging that those who looted the public money would be brought to justice.
Technical committee on cards for PR sector
Replying to a question regarding the water crisis in Balochistan and Sindh, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said the federal government would work in harmony with the provinces “which is imperative for the country’s stability”.
Vawda called upon the big provinces to play their role in ending conflict with smaller provinces.
