KARACHI: Unfortunate incidents like the deaths of two minors in Karachi after consuming food and candies from a restaurant and a play place happen when authorities fail to play their due role. They failed to establish well-functioning food inspection authorities that would regulate restaurants and the food they serve.
The food samples have been sent to the Punjab Food authority for lab tests shows Sindh must have its own food testing labs. The lost lives can never be brought back, however, more of such incidents can be easily controlled if restaurants and cafes are regularised under legislation.
Also since the eatery under investigation is not a roadside café but a posh restaurant, the responsible must be apprehended and convicted.
