Keeping our cities clean

Letter November 13, 2018
We should actively participate in sanitation and plantation drives

KARACHI: Punjab government’s instructions for the elimination of smog are being followed in letter and in spirit. Talking to media, Secretary District Regional Transport Authority Rana Mohsin said awareness should be given to people regarding smog.

He said smoke-emitting vehicles were being fined and vehicles with no fitness certificate were being banned. In this regard, a crackdown has been initiated in three tehsils of the district.

At least 2,200 vehicles had been fined, fitness certificates of seven vehicles were cancelled, 185 vehicles were banned and Rs0.9 million were imposed as fine. The plantation drive was also going on at bus stands in Depalpur and Renala Khurd tehsils.

While the government of Punjab is doing so much for us, it is also our responsibility to keep our cities clean. We should actively participate in sanitation and plantation drives.
