Economic slowdown: Strike affects industrial zones

The breakdowns occurred due to line faults or other technical faults.

KARACHI:
SITE Association of Industry Chairman Abdul Wahab Lakhani has expressed serious concern over the prolonged standoff between KESC management and workers union, which has been happening for more than a month and is affecting industrial areas. The breakdowns due to line faults or other technical faults which remain unattended for days have crippled the production in the S.I.T.E. area, and resulted in industries closing, he said. Lakhani added that he was in touch with KESC management, but they seemed helpless. “If the matter of strike is not resolved on urgent basis, there will be complete shutdown of industries causing irreparable losses to industrial production and exports,” he said.
