MNA complains of being victimised by Sindh govt

Elect as an independent candidate after defeating his Pakistan Peoples Party

HYDERABAD: MNA Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, who was elected as an independent candidate after defeating his Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) opponent, has complained that he and his supporters are being victimised by the Sindh government. "The corrupt rulers of Sindh are punishing the people of my constituency because they voted for me as an independent candidate against PPP," he alleged, while addressing the supporters in Mirpurkhas.

Shah, who formerly belonged to the PPP, received 75,792 votes against 67,552 of Pir Hassan Shah to win the constituency, NA 218, in the July 25 general elections. "I can't let the people silently suffer from these vindictive actions."

Shah's supporters in rural areas complained of being denied their share of irrigation water while those in the government service claimed that they are being transferred out of the district. Residents of Kot Ghulam Muhammad taluka accused the police of booking them in fake FIRs.



Advocate Mumtaz Jarwar, a member of the district council, said more than a dozen persons in his family and circle of friends have been transferred from Mirpurkhas as punishment. The MNA said a large number of his supporters have alleged that rampant corruption marred performance of the PPP-led municipal bodies in Mirpurkhas.

"We are being pushed against the wall." Shah said he voted for Imran Khan in the election to become the premier, hoping that he would address the problems faced by the people of his constituency.

Meanwhile in Dadu district, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf's leader Liaquat Jatoi, who is a former federal minister, said many employees in education, police and municipal bodies who supported him in the election have been transferred out of Dadu. He claimed that the provincial government has also allegedly stopped the salaries of some of his other supporters.
