ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned the High Power Selection Board (HPSB) to meet today (Monday) to consider senior bureaucrats for the top grade.

The meeting will take place at the PM Office at noon.

In its last meeting held on October 29 -- which was also chaired by the prime minister -- the HPSB withheld the announcement regarding promotion of BS-21 officers on the seniority list to BS-22.

Although the HPSB made some recommendations and deferred the names of others in the seniority list in its last meeting, the PM Office had not communicated those names to the Establishment Division in writing.

Later, the prime minister had gone on an official visit to China,.

According to sources, the HPSB will give official approval to the promotion after considering the recommendations of the previous board meeting from the beginning.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Establishment Shehzad Arbab, Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Azam Khan, Cabinet Secretary Fazal Abbas Mekan and Establishment Division Secretary Doctor Ejaz Munir will attend the meeting.
