While the starlet started her career in 2005, it’s only this year that she’s become a household name – also thanks to the countless memes that took over the internet after her name started popping up in every Netflix production. 2018 was truly the year for Apte. Having spent over a decade in the industry, the 33-year-old starlet recently shared the life lessons that showbiz taught her.
In an interview with Vogue India, Apte revealed that the first few years in Bollywood were really hard for her. She said, “I believed that my work is solely for art’s sake. But then you realise that no one is going to just give their money away; they need to recover it. Bollywood is a business at the end of the day.”
The Ghoul star added that many actors choose to stay comfortable with the image that they already have but in order to be successful, one needs to keep challenging themselves. Apte stated, “For me, Padman, Parched and Sacred Games were all quite challenging and drastically different parts. People seem to think their success will change or their positioning as an actor will fall if they try something remarkably different, but I think that is where you need to challenge yourself. For me, that’s the definition of being an actor.”
The actor continued that a lot of people consider vulnerability as a sign of weakness, however, for her, it’s her strength. “Vulnerability is something that connects you to people,” she explained.
