Rescue 1122 holds workshop on road safety workshop

DG says aim of workshop is to educate children to become responsible citizens

LAHORE: Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer has said Rescue 1122 aims to train children as safety ambassador for Rescue 1122 and imparting safety training to school students to help them prevent accidents and emergencies.

He was speaking to young students who participated in a one-day Road Safety Workshop at Emergency services Academy, Thoker Niaz Baig, on Saturday. The workshop was organised by the School Safety Wing of the Service with close coordination of the Citizens Mobility and Development Foundation.

Dr Naseer said the main theme of this workshop was to educate children to become responsible citizens and train them about road safety measures which can help prevent road traffic accidents. He took a pledge from young students to motivate their parents for obeying traffic rules to prevent an ever-increasing number of accidents. He congratulated all young students for becoming Rescue Scouts.

He said all students were enrolled as Rescue Scout and they will be provided with further training of life-saving skills of First Aid and fire safety. The content of the workshop included road safety measures, health hygiene, the basic principle of traffic laws, the importance of water, conservation of water and energy, cleanliness and environmental pollution.  At least 90 children of rescuers from the Punjab Emergency Service headquarters, Emergency Services Academy and District Lahore attended this workshop.

Earlier, all young students visited the Emergency Services Academy where they observed ongoing training activities of deep well rescue, water rescue, firefighting, urban search and rescue, rescue from confined spaces & rescue from the height.

In the end, training certificates were awarded to the students.
